Foster Parenting in Maine - Is There Room in Your Heart?

Approximately 3000 children in Maine are not currently able to live in their birth family homes. They need alternate places to live with families that will support and care for them in the midst of their transitions. In Maine, those alternate families are called "foster families" and they are licensed by the State of Maine.

Community Care is committed to working with prospective foster parents to help them through the licensing process. Our leading treatment foster care program serves families and children across Maine. We provide supportive services to special needs children, birth families, and foster families. Support may include case management, individualized rehabilitation, psychiatric services, counseling and family visitation. The process of becoming licensed as a foster family can be lengthy and challenging. However, the rewards of providing care for special needs children exceeds that challenge.
